Anne Braun, born in 1984, is a visual artist specialising in film and photography. In her current photographic practice, she engages with the formal aspects of the medium and explores the limits of visual reproduction in the face of technological and social developments. Since October 2024 she has been attending the Masters programme ‘Photographic Studies‘ at FH Dortmund.
Since more than twenty years she lives in Berlin, where she completed her film studies with a focus on cinematography under the supervision of Bernd Fischer and Titus Faschina. Her repertoire as a cinematographer is diverse and includes documentary, fictional and installation projects. In her video work, she investigates an emotional, immersive form of cinematographic storytelling. She has been involved in productions that have been shown nationally and internationally at the Berlinische Galerie, Sichuan Fine Arts Institute Chongquing and Kunsthalle Baden-Baden. As a video artist, she has also participated in European theatre productions such as ‘App Human‘ at Théâtre des Capucins Luxembourg and ‘Volksfeind‘ at Schauspielhaus Zurich.
Teaching media approaches in the form of media education programmes has been part of her professional practice from the very beginning. She designs and leads workshops for independent and public organisations and has extensive teaching experience. Since 2016, she has been a lecturer in film and image design as well as post-production at Berlin universities, currently at the Berlin University of the Arts, the Berliner Hochschule für Technik and the University of Europe Berlin.
