Sensual Fragments
photographic series, 2025

SENSUAL
FRAGMENTS [a queer gaze on female bodies] examines gender-specific
constructions of the gaze in the photographic representation of
bodies and the reception of these body images. The series builds on
the female gazeas a concept of the gaze that emphasizes self-determination and
intimacy and expands this gaze into the queer
gaze, which breaks up normative
gender images and binary body concepts.
Through the anonymized,
cropped staging and the formal dissolution of the figurative, the
images take up a fragmented, fluid discourse on identity. This
sensual, abstract visual language creates fluid body images that open
up new ways of engaging with gendered visual regimes, body
experiences, and visibility.
